Why You Should Play in a Local Pickleball Tournament

Hello, fellow pickleballers!

As someone who’s been playing pickleball for a while here in Las Vegas, I can’t tell you how much fun it is to jump into the world of local tournaments. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to participate, let me share my experience and why I think you should absolutely give it a shot.

First off, let’s talk about the thrill of competition. There’s just something about walking onto the court during a tournament. The energy is electric, the adrenaline kicks in, and suddenly, you’re more focused and engaged than ever. It’s a whole new level of play. And guess what? It doesn’t matter if you’re new to tournaments or a seasoned player—you’re there to have fun, learn, and enjoy the game we all love.

But tournaments aren’t just about the games. They’re about the people. The pickleball community is, hands down, one of the friendliest and most welcoming groups you’ll ever meet. Everyone’s cheering each other on, sharing tips, and bonding over their love for the sport. It’s not uncommon to leave a tournament with a handful of new friends and some great stories to tell.

One of my favorite things about local tournaments is how they help you grow as a player. You’ll get to test your skills against players you might not normally meet, which pushes you to think strategically and adapt on the fly. It’s one of the best ways to improve your game while having an absolute blast.

Speaking of tournaments, there’s an exciting one coming up right here in our backyard: FROSTY BALLS, hosted by Excel Pickleball, from January 24th to 26th. If you’ve been on the fence about trying a tournament, this is the perfect opportunity. It’s local, it’s fun, and it’s a chance to dive into the pickleball scene in a whole new way.

• Friday – 24th Men’s Single and Women’s Singles
• Saturday – 25th Mixed Doubles
• Sunday – 26th Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles

Final brackets and times will be posted here by Wednesday, Jan 22, 2025.

This tournament format will be Round Robin/Pool Play with Playoffs for all divisions.

Divisions with 3 teams or less will be combined with another division.
